Acetic Acid 0.6% (acetic acid 0.6% v/v in purified water) is a reconstitution solvent used in peptide chemistry laboratories for dissolving lyophilic peptides that are poorly soluble at neutral pH. The reduced pH (~3.0) supports the solubility of hydrophobic and copper-binding peptides. This product is a laboratory reagent and not a peptide; It does not contain an active molecular compound.
Application in laboratory research
Acetic Acid 0.6% is used in research contexts as an alternative to BAC water (bacteriostatic water) in reconstitution of peptides that do not dissolve sufficiently in neutral aqueous solutions. Examples from literature include hydrophobic research peptides and copper-bound tripeptide complexes.
